Meet Our Team
Timothy Messer, DPT, MSPT, CSCS
Tim is a graduate of The University of Montana with more than 20 years professional experience. He’s a licensed physical therapist with a doctorate of physical therapy and a certified strength and conditioning specialist. He’s worked extensively with adolescent and collegiate athletes – many who have enjoyed professional athletic careers. While the primary focus of Tim's practice has been sports rehabilitation and orthopedics, he also has extensive education and training in manual therapies for treating patients of all ages. Tim is very active in the community and has served as in such roles such as an instructor at the University of Montana and working with the Missoula County Fire Department on evaluations and injury preventiion.
Laurie Darnell, MSPT
Laurie joined our team of licensed therapists in 2010, after practicing in Georgia. She’s a graduate of the University of Georgia and North Georgia College & State University with a master’s degree in physical therapy. Laurie enjoys providing physical therapy for clients of all ages. Laurie has also completed a specialty course conducted by the North American Institute of Orthopedic Manual Therapy on biomechanical assessment and manual therapy techniques of the lumbar spine, the lower thoracic spine, hip, knee, foot and ankle joints.
Madeline May, PT, DPT, CLT
Madeline is a Montana native who earned her Doctorate of Physical Therapy at the University of Montana. Prior to this, she attended Boise State University where she earned a degree in Fitness Evaluation and Programming. The focus of her education has been centered around the provision of manual therapies and exercise prescription. While pursuing her doctorate, she developed a love for oncology rehabilitation and obtained in depth training in lymphedema management through the Norton School of Lymphatic Therapy. Since then, she has completed additional training in pelvic floor rehabilitation in order to provide comprehensive care for patients with pelvic floor dysfunction, pre and post partum, and following oncological intervention.
Jamie Lynn, PTA
Jamie comes to Active Physical Therapy & Sports Injury Center, LLC, after working many years as a massage therapist, certified personal trainer and wellness coach. Jamie decided to expand her education and obtained her physical therapy assistant degree and license in 2012. Jamie looks forward to working with the great patients and their families in all phases of outpatient physical therapy here in our clinic.
Sam Vallin, CF-L1, CFW-L1, CFW-L2, TCG 1
Sam’s passion for fitness began during his time as a high school athlete and continues today as he participates in Crossfit and Olympic weight lifting competitions. As a group coach and trainer, Sam brings his belief that life is best lived fit in body, mind and spirit to each session. Sam is dedicated to ensuring his clients’ success and strives to make training enjoyable. Sam’s drive to bring an energetic and personalized approach to programming for each clients’ health goals makes him a great asset to the Active family.
Cole Bausch, PT, DPT
Cole is a Montana native who received his Doctorate of Physical Therapy from the University of St. Augustine in Austin, TX. His education and training have focused on orthopedic and concussion/ vestibular rehabilitation. His clinical interest includes bridging the gap between orthopedic and concussion therapies. As a former athlete and having extensive experience working with athletes and active populations, he understands the need to address orthopedic injuries that often accompany a concussion. When not in the clinic you can find Cole somewhere on an outdoor adventure with his family
Liana J. Messer, LMT
After years of practicing law Liana decided on pursuing a career change that would allow her to help clients. She attended the Sacred Roots School of Massage and obtained her LMT. She looks forward to using her skills with clients for relaxation, stress relief and well being.
